New Mexico bear draw odds

Every bear hunt code New Mexico published draw results for, from 2019 to 2026. Pick a hunt to see how many people ranked it first and how many of them drew it, year by year and pool by pool.

There are no point pages here, and there is no points-to-draw figure anywhere on this site for New Mexico. The department runs a random draw with no queue and says so itself, so a question like what do five points get me has no answer this state's reports could support. What it publishes instead is the first-choice draw rate.

The department stopped publishing part of this report. From 2024 its February bear and turkey report gives only the residency split of who drew, with no breakdown by choice — so a first-choice draw rate cannot be computed for those years, by this site or by anyone. Applicant demand and licences issued are published for every year and are shown; the first-choice rate runs through 2022 only.

Reading a New Mexico hunt code

A code such as BER-1-100 carries three parts. The letters are the species. The middle digit is the sporting arm — 1 any legal big-game sporting arm, 2 bow only, 3 muzzleloader, crossbow or bow only. The last three digits identify one hunt: its dates, its unit, its fee type and its bag limit. Those are the department's own definitions, from the Understanding Hunt Codes page of its rules booklet.

Covering 2026, 2025, 2024, 2022, 2021, 2020, 2019. New Mexico has published nothing for 2027. See how these numbers are produced and checked, or the application deadlines.
