Montana bison draw odds

Every bison licence code Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks has published drawing statistics for, 2018 to 2026. Pick a code to see how many people put it first and how many of them drew it, year by year, pool by pool, and at every bonus point level.

Montana draws four pools separately for every one of these codes — resident landowner and nonresident landowner first, then resident and nonresident — and publishes each of them apart. Nothing on this site averages them together, because they are four different drawings for the same licence.

What Montana publishes, and what it does not

FWP posts three kinds of drawing statistic after each drawing: a report of quotas and applicants by pool, a detailed bonus point breakdown by residency, and a preference point breakdown for the nonresident combination licence. The first two are what these pages are built from. The third covers a licence rather than a hunt and has its own page.

There is no "points needed to draw" figure here, and there cannot be one. Montana squares your bonus points and adds them to your current application as extra chances, so the drawing is a weighted lottery rather than a queue. Holding more points is better odds every time and a place in line never — which is why these pages publish the draw rate at each level and never a level that guarantees a licence.
